UP Los Baños will be showcasing its technologies to the business sector on March 4 during the second Laguna Business and Investment Exposition (LBIX) as part of the its Technology Commercialization Program (TCP). LBIX 2010 will be held from March 4 to 5 at the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa City.
According to UPLB Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension Enrico P. Supangco, the discussion and showcase seek to orient potential investors and other business players about the procedures, documents, and criteria needed for a firm or an institution to commercialize the university’s research products on agriculture, biotechnology, new engineering, and climate change.
Vice Chancellor Supangco explained that, “the bottom line there is for the technologies developed by the university to reach the intended client, and to generate some income for the university’s further researches which are beneficial for students.”
Mr. Elias Abao Jr., a development management officer of the OVCRE Intellectual Property and Property Commercialization Section, will be discussing the possible terms of references for partnership. Mr. Abao explained that through the technology Commercialization program, UPLB is transferring its products and services, like seeds given to farmers, as part of the University’s public service.
