Cheaper, locally produced, and high quality biotechnology products.
From fertilizers, enzymes, to diagnostic kits, the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BIOTECH) of UP Los Baños will be showcasing its innovations in the
second Laguna Business and Investments Exposition (LBIX) on March 4. LBIX 2010 will be held on March 4 to 5 at the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
For more than three decades, BIOTECH has continued developing high-quality, cost-effective, and environment-friendly biotechnology products. Among the technologies to be presented during the LBIX are biological fertilizers, enzymes, and diagnostic kits. With LBIX 2010, BIOTECH aims to increase the public awareness on existing BIOTECH products and to collaborate with potential investors to make these products available in the Philippine market.
BIOTECH extensionist Lerma Moran explained that in patronizing locally developed technologies, entrepreneurs will be able to cut down on expenses. Fertilizers and enzymes from BIOTECH are cheaper and are of high quality compared with commercially-available and imported products.
Aside from fertilizers and enzymes, BIOTECH has also developed rapid diagnostic kits that can help in the prevention of the spread of pathogenic microorganisms and toxins. BIOTECH’s
diagnostic kits provide a more cost-effective alternative to imported diagnostic kits.
Since its establishment in 1979, BIOTECH has continued developing better alternative products for industries in the country. With the commercialization of BIOTECH products, the
Philippines can prove that locally-developed technologies are at par with imported counterparts.
